Psychotherapy Practice

I am not accepting new therapy clients at this time; however I am glad to make referrals if you provide me with specific information about your therapy needs. Here are other Seattle psychologists who have similar values and approaches in therapy that you might contact:

Mary Plummer, PhD 206-547-2772

Elizabeth Mazza, PhD 206-779-1265

I am a licensed clinical psychologist and I offer psychotherapy for individuals, couples and families at my office in the Leschi/Mt. Baker area of Seattle. After you contact me, we typically meet for an initial evaluation period of one to three sessions. This will allow me to determine if my experience and training make me a good match to help you as well as allow you to evaluate me. After this brief evaluation period, I will recommend a plan for how we could work together to meet your goals for therapy. Throughout our work together we will monitor and evaluate progress toward your goals to determine if therapy is effective for you.

I am primarily a behavior therapist. This means that you and I will actively collaborate to understand and resolve the difficulties that have led you to seek help. This will often involve thinking together about the problems that occur in your life, identifying what changes you’d like to initiate, and your application of what we learn in session to your daily life between sessions. This also means that whenever possible, I draw on methods that have been shown in research to be the most effective for a particular problem. Most often these evidence-based practices help people reduce suffering and change in ways they would like to change. However, some life difficulties and sources of suffering are not amenable to change or are very difficult and slow to change (e.g., deaths, illness and disability, some relationships and some aspects of oneself, events in the past, etc.). In these situations, I will recommend that we work toward developing acceptance.
